Dominican friars were among the earliest missionaries in the 'new world' of the Americas during the sixteenth century. The province of St. Joseph the Worker, Nigeria and Ghana continue this missionary character of the Dominican order 800 years later. The universal character of the Order's structure corresponds to its universal mission to preach the Gospel in all nations. Today, vocations are not as plentiful as before; many of our provinces do not have the manpower for their own province and the church through its bishops, is seeking assistants to help their respective Archdiocese and Dioceses to provide for the sacramental life and needs of God's people. The Province of St. Joseph the Worker, Nigeria and Ghana have answered the call of the Church in this regard.
